Frequently Asked
Questions

Networks, batteries and compatibility for wireless meter projects.

Discuss Your Requirements
What is the main difference between LoRa and NB-IoT?

LoRa uses a local radio connection to compatible collection equipment or a handheld reader. NB-IoT connects the meter through a supported operator network to the management platform. The equipment, coverage and software requirements are different.

Can these LoRa meters connect to any LoRaWAN gateway?

LoRa does not by itself establish LoRaWAN compatibility. Share the gateway model, radio frequency and protocol documentation so the meter and collection system can be matched.

Does NB-IoT need a local concentrator?

The NB-IoT route connects each meter through the operator network, rather than through a local meter concentrator. It still needs compatible network access and a management-platform connection.

Will an NB-IoT meter work in our country or a below-ground meter well?

Network coverage is site-specific. Send the installation country, operator, required bands and meter location. An external antenna is a layout option, not a guarantee of reception in every well or building.

How long does the battery last?

The LoRa series battery reference is 8–10 years with one data collection per week. The dedicated split NB-IoT page lists a replaceable battery and a 7+ year life reference. These are different product statements, not a common guarantee for every model or reporting schedule.

Is every wireless meter valve-controlled or prepaid?

No. Choose a valve-equipped assembly and compatible software if you need remote opening, shut-off or prepaid charging. Reading-only versions should not be treated as having a valve.

Which diameters and dimensions are available?

The LoRa series covers DN15–DN300 across its product families; each version needs its own size match. The pictured manufacturer NB-IoT sample is DN20. Ask for the selected model data and assembly drawing for installation planning; the sample does not define the full NB-IoT range.

Can we connect to our existing management platform?

Share the platform documentation, data format, network route and required controls. A shared radio label or the presence of NB-IoT does not by itself establish platform compatibility.
