Industrial & Agricultural Flow Measurement

Industrial and agricultural measurement is about continuous duty rather than billing accuracy. The meter sits on an intake, a process line or an irrigation main and is expected to keep reading without attention. Chenshuo supplies DN50-DN200 dual-channel ultrasonic bulk meters and DN15-DN65 multi-jet mechanical meters for this range of work.

Typical sizes: DN40-DN300

Who buys this, and what they care about

The same meter is bought for different reasons depending on who is signing. These are the four roles that come up most often on this type of project.

Plant and factory engineering teams

Intake measurement that runs continuously and does not need attention between shutdowns.

Irrigation scheme operators

Large volumes, seasonal use, and often no power or shelter at the measurement point.

EPC and industrial contractors

A specified meter with documentation that arrives with the rest of the package.

Agricultural water associations

Allocation between users, which means the meter has to be accepted as fair by the people being charged.

What decides the order

Four things that most often settle whether a project goes ahead with us.

Built for continuous duty

The ultrasonic bulk body has no moving parts in the flow path, so there is no mechanical wear to service on an intake that runs all year.

Sizes up to DN200 as standard

DN50-DN200 in the dual-channel ultrasonic range. Larger sizes and other bodies are supplied on request, subject to confirmation.

Installation conditions checked first

Straight lengths, orientation and whether the point is sheltered all affect what will read correctly. Send the site conditions with the enquiry and we will flag anything before you order.

Documentation with the quotation

Certificate and test document copies are provided with the quotation.

Meter installed on an industrial supply line

Industrial water intake

An intake meter is there to tell the plant what it abstracted, either for its own cost accounting or because a permit requires it. The conditions are harder than a building supply: continuous flow, larger sizes, and often a pit or an exposed position. What decides the meter is usually the range it has to hold and whether it can be read without a visit.

  • DN50-DN200 dual-channel ultrasonic bulk meter.
  • No moving parts in the flow path, so no mechanical wear to service.
  • Tell us the installation conditions and we will flag anything that affects the reading.
Meter installed on a lagged high-volume pipeline

Irrigation and high-volume abstraction

Irrigation runs seasonally at high volume and often at points with no power and no shelter. The measurement question is usually allocation between users rather than revenue protection, so the meter has to be one that the users accept as fair. Available sizes and bodies for this duty are confirmed per project.

  • Large-volume bodies are supplied on request, subject to confirmation.
  • Battery operation matters where there is no power at the point.
  • Send the seasonal flow range and the site conditions with the enquiry.

Getting the installation right

Most measurement problems on industrial lines are installation problems, not meter problems. Straight lengths upstream and downstream, orientation, and whether the body is fully charged all change what the meter reads. Checking these before the meter is fitted is cheaper than diagnosing them afterwards.

  • Straight lengths and orientation confirmed against the meter specification.
  • Shelter and access considered before the position is fixed.
  • See the installation and maintenance guide for the checks before commissioning.

Questions we get on this group

Ultrasonic or mechanical for an intake line?

Ultrasonic where you want no moving parts and a wide range. Mechanical where the duty is steady and the budget favours it. Send the flow range and we will confirm.

Do you supply above DN200?

Larger sizes are supplied on request, subject to confirmation against the project.

What do you need from me to quote?

Pipe size, expected minimum and maximum flow, installation conditions and quantity.
